1934 Martin R-18T Tenor Archtop
*All original, no breaks, no mods, no repairs* The Martin guitar company has been the gold standard for American made acoustic instruments for most of their 189 year history. While they are mainly known for their flat top acoustic guitars, they have also produced a number of other folk instruments such as archtops, mandolins, ukuleles and tenor guitars. The R18 guitar has become a very rare and collectible guitar and its little brother, the R18T has also become very rare due to its limited production in the mid to late 1930s when this guitar was made in 34' production numbers were limited to just 60 total. This R18T from 1934 is a beautiful first year example of this very rare tenor guitar. It features a 14 1/4" lower bout, two 3-piece f-holes and a classy sunburst finish. This guitar is in very good overall condition for an 88 year old instrument. It is 100% original and still plays great with great feeling slim C / V hybrid shaped neck. The original Grover 2- tab friction tuners work great and it has a very unique and beautiful tone. It also includes the original hard shell case (This case is just a bit larger than the guitar) there is some fraying on the outer edges of the leather handle, but it is all intact and the latches/ hinges all work and function properly.Â
