This is a 1983 G&L 4 String Bass Guitar.
Introduced by George and Leo’s new company in 1980, these basses are so popular they are still being made.
Note the Leo Fender signature on the headstock, too.
They got active electronics in 1983, the year this stellar bass was made in Fullerton, USA. As basses go, this is a “one bass does it all” type of guitar.
While it has active pickups, it can also be used in passive mode, which turns the preamp off. This gives you 2 great sounding humbuckers and a 3 way switch, plus volume and tone controls. In active mode, this thing has it all. Pickups in series OR parallel at the flick of a switch, plus you can have the preamp on with treble boost, or just the preamp alone. Obviously, with pickup selector, volume and tone controls as well. What more does a good bass player need?
Once you’ve tried having all your tools in one great sounding, great playing box, you won’t go back to more limited options.
This one is in aged white with maple neck, a really classic look. It won’t break the bank, either, especially for a made in the USA guitar with the original hard shell case. Not too many of these really early G&L guitars pop up for sale and there’s a reason for that. They are tremendous!
Please look through all the detailed photos we have listed, so you can see how well taken care of this Bass has been.
